Hello Internet! Y8Games Center is in touch, my name is Max Solodilov , and I am now in Paris... ah, damn it, for sure, this is a text article. Sorry, habit. Usually I bring video material from the press tours, but this time something went wrong, and the footage of the gameplay disappeared from the hard disk without a trace. Let's assume that they were stolen by the Yellow Vests. Of course, this is not true, but the current situation in the French capital disposes of similar thoughts: during the day, demonstrators dissatisfied with the rise in oil prices demanding the resignation of the incumbent President Emmanuel Macron, arrange processions, blocking the road to transport, and at night crowds of people shout loudly in their melodic language, making it difficult for less conscious citizens and ordinary tourists to sleep. In general, a mess. The event itself was held in a covered parking, furnished in the style of hideouts from the game, and because of all these mass unrest in the country, it was somewhat difficult to understand whether this was the idea of the decorators, or the participants of the protest movement actually live here.
Surely many of you remember the announcement of The Division in 2013. Then frosty New York amazed the imagination with its beauty and elaboration, and the ability to smoothly close the door, leaning against the car, caused puppy delight. Unfortunately, in hugs with corners and shelters, all interactivity with the outside world, in fact, ended, but in terms of design, the city had practically no competitors. Abandoned cars and things, rare surviving people and animals, garbage and snow flying due to gusts of wind, changeable weather and changing times of day - all this created a convincing atmosphere of a quarantined metropolis. And then suddenly warm and sunny Washington.
Like many others, I was initially not particularly hooked on the new location. The short playing session at E3 did not help to penetrate the capital of the USA . However, after running the streets for five hours and studying the local sights, I came to the conclusion that the locations here are in no way inferior to the original. In Washington, there are more open spaces and no skyscrapers, but the city is crammed with the best architectural structures in America, and the greenery erupting from everywhere turns it into a stone jungle. With HDR turned on, the picture looks especially juicy. The setting resembles individual levels from The Last of Us or Enslaved: Odyssey to the West , only the scale is completely different.
But, as before, all this is just a decoration. Not all buildings can be entered, and destructibility is very limited. Even vehicles suspended on cranes cannot be dropped on someone's head, although they could not only inflict significant damage on opponents, but also create additional cover. The latter explains the static nature of the world. Bullets find the hero with deadly accuracy, so you have to constantly hide behind improvised and not very obstacles placed here and there. If you allow the players to raskurochit everything, then this will hit the balance and alignment of forces on the battlefield. In this case, even your partners will not save you, although in general it is easier and more fun to run in a quartet. So you have to do only with explosive red barrels and cylinders, so as not to change the appearance of the area beyond recognition.
Seven months have passed since the events of the original. Despite the quarantine, the dangerous dollar flu escaped New York and entered nearby Washington. The previous agent, if you had one, apparently turned out to be less agile and remained sitting in his snow den, so you will have to create the hero anew. For completing special tasks in the first part, you can get a number of buns for the sequel, but pumping still starts from scratch.
Our freshly baked beggar quickly gets to see the White House and begins to put things in order in the district, where three warring groups are already rampaging with might and main: "Hyenas", "Outcasts" and "True Sons". In general, again, in their own way, crazy people, ready to gnaw each other's throats for influence in the city. We have to deal with their destruction. The shooting is basically the same - fall, roll and take cover - but it feels better. It has become easier to aim and hit in the head - either the weapon behaves more responsive, or the enemies have ceased to be so strong as Neo and dodge incoming bursts.
In the first half of the beta, a couple of initial story missions and a few side missions were available, but they all boiled down to the typical rescue of townspeople useful for the common cause, returning resources to the base and killing important gangster cones. Completing tasks brings experience, increases levels and opens up access to new skills, weapons and gear. Clothing has become branded and gives additional bonuses if you wear everything from one manufacturer. That is, loot, as always, is above all. But all this is so familiar and familiar that you involuntarily begin to wonder whether you are playing in an ordinary expansion. In an amicable way, "Divisions" had to follow the path of the Assassin's Creed series, which has long abandoned the numbers in the name - at first glance, there are not enough innovations here to be called a full-fledged second part. However, the developers have a plan for the development of the project.
The main problem of the original was the lack of content after reaching the maximum level. You had to either go through the second round of the plot on high difficulty, or entertain yourself in the "Dark Zone" - it is the PvP mode. The first full-fledged expansion had to wait for three whole months. During this time, "Division" managed to lose part of the audience, and then also divided the rest into two parts, because the DLC was paid. The following additions did not improve the situation, although the game itself was diversified and finalized. The Division 2 tries in every possible way to avoid such a fate at the start.
To keep you in Washington for as long as possible, upon reaching level 30, you will unlock three specializations: Sharpshooter, Survival Expert, and Demoman. Each "profession" contains its own skill tree and unique weapons, which, however, require special (and rather rare) cartridges. Fortunately, it is allowed to freely switch between roles, so that you can choose the style that suits you, and so that four identical fighters do not run in your squad. Of course, no one forbids fighting alone, but the game is fully disclosed only with close interaction with friends. In addition, it is not at all a fact that the especially dangerous group "Black Fangs", which you will encounter in the "endgame", will be able to be eliminated alone.
In the second half of the beta, we just went to deal with this special squad. It seemed that no one would be able to stop us with the "purple" clothes, but the excessive arrogance disappeared after the very first skirmish. The guys from the capital are well versed in technology and armed with all sorts of drones, radio-controlled cars with explosives and other robots, which, on the one hand, diversified and supplemented the list of opponents, and on the other, made life much more difficult for us. The voice chat was bursting with obscenities and curses as we broke through the hordes of enemies in pain and suffering. However, it was so carbonic, epic and testosterone that we were upset when the gaming session came to an end.
Now I can't wait to see what kind of "meat" awaits players in the promised raid for eight people after the release. In general, it is interesting to look at the development of The Division 2 . The authors have abandoned the Season Pass to avoid splitting the community, and are promising to release three free story episodes in the first year. It is possible that then paid supplements will follow, but so far everything is limited only to a "cosmetic" donation. This assured us attended the Paris event game director Mathias Carlson (Mathias Karlson). He also confirmed that the additional space in the cache, which is given for the purchase of the Ultimate Edition, will be available to all players, it will simply have to be pumped - you cannot purchase the "expander" separately, thereby saving time. And that's a commendable approach.
Y8Games knows how to make sequels. You don't have to go far for examples, take at least Assassin's Creed II and Watch Dogs 2. So the second "Division" looks like a modified and finished version of the original. She does not try to step into new territory in the genre, but simply takes into account previous mistakes and shortcomings and tries to correct them. And if the game does not have technical problems (and I did not notice a single bug on the Xbox One X in five hours), then according to all the laws of logic, its scores should be slightly higher than that of the first part, that is, for 80 points.
Tom Clancy's The Division 2 is out March 15 on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with a digital version for personal computers only appearing on Uplay and the Y8 Games Store. Matthias Carlson assures that the development studioMassive Entertainment had nothing to do with the decision to bypass Valve's site . Also from February 7th to 11th, Y8Games will be holding a closed beta test of an online action movie. Read all the details about the beta here.
